Do you often feel stuck, or like you can’t get to the bottom of an issue, no matter how much you talk about it?
Brainspotting is a relatively new therapy derived from the well-known mid-brain therapy EMDR. Brainspotting allows for clients to process at a sub-cortical level to bring them back to homeostasis or return them to a regulated state.
Basically, we go to the subconscious to resolve the stuff we can’t get to with our logical brain. Brainspotting is a powerful experience. Because we “stir the brain” with bilateral stimulation, and tap into the body experience as well as the emotional experience, it can feel like Brainspotting mines every nook and cranny of the brain to get to the core of the issue.
During brainspotting clients may notice sensate memory (sounds, colours, sensations, etc), lived memories, strong emotions, and bodily sensations. The therapist guides the process to help clients ground and process.
