Tessa Wilderman

Practicum Therapist

Hello and welcome. I admire your courage in seeking help as you face the challenges in your unique lived experience. I am honored that you are considering my support and guidance to help you address life’s complexities and build your resilience.

Using an integrative and holistic approach, I employ various evidence-based practices from multiple theoretical underpinnings including narrative, person-centered, mindfulness, CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy), and solution-focused, to best support your personal goals.

My role in your journey is to provide a compassionate and empathetic space, where I can help guide you as you explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges without judgement. Together, we will collaboratively tailor a treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and goals, fostering your emotional well-being and resilience.

As a settler living and practicing on Treaty 1 territory (traditional ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis), and as an ally to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, I practice from an anti-oppressive framework and provide affirming and trauma-informed care with a diverse range of clients from various walks of life.

My journey into the world of psychology began during my BA, where I majored in this fascinating field. However, life took me on a diverse career path, and now, I'm thrilled to reconnect with my true passion working as a psychotherapist. Coming from this diverse career journey, I bring with me a broad set of experiences, knowledge, and skills that I am committed to applying to empower you on your path to emotional well-being.

Beyond psychotherapy, I have a deep affinity for animals. For years, I had the pleasure of coaching horse-riding lessons, fostering courage and confidence in novice riders within a safe and nurturing environment. This experience further highlighted the importance of compassion, patience, and understanding, principles I wholeheartedly bring into my therapeutic practice. I also enjoy spending time with my partner, our two cats and two dogs, hiking, camping, travelling, and tending to my many indoor plants.
