Raindrop Technique.

What is Raindrop Technique?

Raindrop Technique is described as a complete modality that aims to reach all levels of the body, mind and emotions. The purpose is to stimulate every organ, muscle and bone of the body at a cellular level through the oils. The natural ingredients of the oils support the immune system with the intention of bringing the body into balance and encouraging the release of toxins wherever they may be lodged.

Raindrop Technique is intended to stimulate the self-healing powers of the client and does so in a way that delivers optimal benefit according to the readiness and willingness of the client at the time of the session. At the completion of a Raindrop session, the client’s body, mind, and emotions will be more receptive to healing having been encouraged to find its balance.

What would someone be feeling that could benefit from a Raindrop session?

A Raindrop session may support symptoms associated with mild discomfort and symptoms stemming from traumas, emotional and physical. For example, some symptoms that may be addressed in a Raindrop session include: anxiety, stress and it’s effects on immune function, headaches, muscle/back pain, pent-up negative emotions, etc.

What does a Raindrop session look like?

The client will arrive 10 minutes early to read and fill out a consent form. Once the client is brought into the therapy room, the Raindrop practitioner will do a consult with the client and then will measure the client’s height. The client will then be given time to get undressed and onto the massage table. Essential oils will be applied to the feet with the client face up for approximately 30 minutes. Then the client will turn over onto their stomach and have the oils applied to their spine and back for approximately 30 minutes. Once all oils are applied, a warm compress will be placed on the spine and allowed to sit for 5-8 minutes. Once the Raindrop is complete, the client will be wrapped and assisted into a sitting position where they will be given a glass of water. Once the client has dressed, the Raindrop practitioner will then remeasure the client’s height.

What should I wear for my session?

Clients will need to remove socks and tops. Comfortable pants such as sweats, shorts or yoga pants are recommended. It is best to remove all metals from the body, including jewellery and metals such as buttons on jeans or zippers. Toenail polish is also asked to be removed since the essential oils will remove the polish and the toxic chemicals may be absorbed into the body.

What are the benefits of Raindrop and what can occur in a session?

The benefits from Raindrop may not all be apparent immediately following the session. Adjustments can continue throughout the week following. Some clients experience healing (occasionally dramatically) immediately upon receiving Raindrop. However, the benefits of the session to the client’s mind, body and emotions takes place over a period of hours and days following the session and may not all be evident right away.  Furthermore, some of the benefits may be subtle and not noticed for a while. The problems the client may have hoped would have been corrected may not as yet be healed, thus waiting to be released in a future Raindrop session. Meanwhile, unexpected healings may occur for chronic problems the client had not even thought the body needed to release. One can never predict in advance what benefits Raindrop may bring in a given session. Therefore, evaluation of the benefits received from Raindrop Technique may take several days to assess.

Sometimes the detoxification process results in bodily soreness, headache, sinus drainage, coughing or a rash on the skin. While unpleasant, these symptoms are temporary and merely an indication that the body is working as a result of the Raindrop session, releasing what it’s held onto and no longer needs. If the colon, liver and kidneys are saturated with toxins and unable to function normally, the skin becomes the third organ of excretion, thus a rash may be seen. For the vast majority of Raindrop clients, their experience is a pleasant sense of improved wellbeing, relaxation and increased energy and in some cases, chronic ailments may have fallen away or disappeared soon after the session.

Raindrop may lead to healing, but will vary widely among clients according to their needs going into the session and their willingness to release what ails them at that time.

Strong emotional releases can sometimes occur with Raindrop since the oils, when inhaled, may trigger the memory(ies) of stored emotions in the nervous system through the sense of smell. The oils also go directly to muscles, tissues and organs throughout the body where emotions can be stored. In rare instances, receivers may have a strong emotional response (such as crying, moaning, writhing, flailing of arms, etc). The environment as well as the rapport with the Raindrop practitioner encourage a safe expression of those emotions to release from the body.

Could I experience sensitivities to the oils?

Therapeutic grade essential oils that are used in Raindrop sessions are generally safe to apply to the skin without unpleasant reactions. However, people whose bodies are in an acid condition or who have high levels of toxins may react to some oils and can develop a rash from too rapid a detox following Raindrop. For such individuals, half or even less of the recommended number of drops will be used with a carrier oil to dilute.  Consult with the Raindrop practitioner at the beginning of your session to determine how much will be used.

How is it different/similar to massage therapy and reflexology?

Raindrop Technique is a procedure that uses essential oils applied to the feet, back and spine. It is a form of aromatherapy. Raindrop incorporates certain Native American concepts, including a special form of massage called “feather stroking” which is similar to a massage technique called “effleurage” however a Raindrop session is not a massage delivered by a registered massage therapist or certified reflexologist.

Another aspect of Raindrop is “Vita Flex”, a therapeutic maneuver adapted from Oriental acupuncture, acupressure, and reflexology. The term “Vita Flex” meaning “vitality through the reflexes”, was coined by Stanley Burrows, who studied Oriental medicine and brought the technique to the West.  Vita Flex involves the gentle pressing and rolling of the Raindrop facilitator’s fingertips upon the Raindrop receiver’s body surface at specific meridians, or reflex points. The theory of Vita Flex utilizes the fact that the human skin is piezoelectric. That is, when even a slight pressure is applied to the body surface, a voltage is generated, and electric charges move accordingly.  The currents so generated are thought to be of therapeutic value.

Will one Raindrop session be enough?

Not all symptoms can be released in a single session. A state of ill health is usually the result of many years of toxins and traumas: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Each Raindrop session may potentially correct something, but to return to a state of optimal health may take a series of sessions over time in combination with lifestyle changes in terms of diet, exercise, habits and interactions with one’s environment. Raindrop Technique cannot promote optimal healing unless changes are made by the client to eliminate the factors that led to the distress in the body. When Raindrop Technique does support healing, it has the potential to encourage the body to release the stored maladaptive consequences of past and affords one the opportunity to start fresh in the present with potential for continued health in the future.

How does it work?

The client is the principal participant in and the means of his/her own healing. The facilitator is but a vessel assisting the client to mobilize his/her own healing powers. The client is encouraged to centre himself/herself and feel the body as it adjusts and corrects itself.

The maladies of the body and mind are in layers. During any given Raindrop session, only those layers the client is ready and willing to release will be released, both physical and emotional. Negative experiences are often our greatest teachers. That is the reason we sometimes hold on to them, because we will still have something left to learn from them.

Can I incorporate other modalities along with my Raindrop sessions?

In general, its results are not improved when additional modalities (such as chiropractic, etc) are added or inserted during a Raindrop session. The objective of a Raindrop is to awaken the receiver’s internal healing powers and any external manipulation at the time of the raindrop session interferes with that objective. Employing additional modalities at the same time can upset that balance and reduce the healing potential. Other healing modalities, such as those at Safe Harbour Therapy and elsewhere: acupuncture, allopathy, chiropractic, reflexology and other therapeutic modalities can be enhanced when employed with essential oils, Raindrop is generally best when done by itself.  If needed or desired, other healing modalities can be employed later when the Raindrop Technique has had time to complete its work. When a receiver is working to release major symptoms in the body (including emotional releases when old memories are triggered), it is encouraged that a receiver support their Raindrop sessions with a therapist or counsellor.
