Relational Energy Therapy.

What is it?

Relational Energy Therapy works with the energy cords formed between our seven chakras (or energy centres) as we interact with others and ourselves throughout our lives. By repairing these connections as they become entangled within the relationships of our lives, we can maintain our own authentic energy in order to evolve into our best selves.

The Hakomi Method is a mindfulness-centered somatic psychotherapy whose core concepts of gentleness, nonviolence, compassion, and mindfulness influence the way energy healing is practiced.

Why would someone see a healing practitioner?

Fear and chaos are constant in our lives, especially in the news, TV shows/movies, and on the Internet. Sometimes fear and chaos are used as a means to take power from others through control and manipulation in an effort to survive that state of fear. Stress is an inherent aspect of life and how we respond to it affects how we think, feel, and interact with others.

People are struggling with their mental health, chronic illness, inflammatory disease, and obesity. It appears that our energies are being impacted physically. Research has shown that when we are able to find balance within the 7 dimensions, we will feel well. Spiritual wellness is 1 of those 7 dimensions (physical, emotional, intellectual, environmental, social, and occupational health).

Addressing the metaphysical energy system within our body is a natural complement to flushing toxins out of our body just as our kidneys do for our physical health; and as expressing our thoughts and feelings through communication for our emotional health; and taking a walk outside while exhaling carbon dioxide and breathing fresh oxygen.

What symptoms would be addressed by a healing practitioner?

  • pain – physical or emotional
  • relational issues
  • family patterns that are no longer relevant but are impacting our current
  • relationships
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • decision-making
  • preparing for surgery and healing after surgery

What would an appointment look like?

An intake session is similar to that of any other therapeutic approach in which the client sits with the practitioner to uncover the issues they are struggling with in their lives. Together, they decide where the focus should be during the healing session.

The client is then given the choice to lay down on the table, fully clothed, with a blanket (whichever feels most comfortable). Sometimes gentle touch is used on and/or off the body to address the different chakras relating to the client’s presenting issues.
The energy work encourages the natural energy, or inherent wisdom within the body, to heal itself. The work is often subtle and results may not be realized until after the session, similar to other natural healing modalities, as the body takes the time to incorporate the changes.

Relational Energy Therapy/Reflexology

How does it work?

Quantum Physics discovered that atoms are made up of energy that is constantly spinning and vibrating. Each atom has it’s own unique energy signature. The human body reportedly has “seven billion billion billion” atoms. Thus we are really beings of energy and vibration with our own unique energy signature.

Scientists can look at an atom under a microscope to see small energy vortices called quarks and photons. If you look closer at an atom, you see nothing – a void – because atoms have no physical structure. They are made of invisible energy.

Thus if we are atoms of invisible energy and are connected to everything we see, then our energies interact with the energy of the people and things around us. Relational Energy Therapy helps us ensure that our energy is our own (and not any others energy) and is moving in a healthy direction so we can feel well and live our optimal lives.

“The atoms in our bodies are traceable to stars that manufactured them in their cores and exploded these enriched ingredients across our galaxy, billions of years ago. For this reason, we are biologically connected to every other living thing in the world. We are chemically connected to all molecules on Earth. And we are atomically connected to all atoms in the universe.” Neil deGrasse Tyson

Quantum physics also has shown that the present can change the past – that time is an illusion (thanks to Einstein – time is relative). Thus quantum physics is the system of consciousness and spirituality proving how we are connected to everything in existence.

During Relational Energy Therapy, blocked or stagnant energy is shifted and realigned in and around the body to allow for optimal functioning. When energy is balanced, our body is able to work properly. Shifted energy allows for new experiences to take shape in our lives, literally!

Scientists have made many discoveries including that we create our own realities: “A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality.” R.C. Henry, “The Mental Universe”; Nature 436:29, 2005

Who developed this approach?

Dean Ramsden is the creator of the field of Relational Energy Therapy, a synergistic approach combining energy healing, chakra development, chakra relational cords, and Astral energy healing. He started his journey as a research assistant scientist for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. When he moved to the United States of America in 1984, his journey expanded to include studies in: Asian Martial Arts, Hakomi mind/body therapy, Body-Centered psychotherapies, Hypnotherapy, Qi Gong Therapist training, the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, and the Centre for Intentional Living before focusing on his own style of healing, Relational Energy.

The Kaomi Method was created in the late 1970’s by Ron Kurtz an international renowned therapist and author. He and a core group of therapists and educators founded the Hakomi institute in 1981 and now present workshops all around the world.
