Couples/Marriage and Family Therapy (MA)

I was someone at one point that sought out professional help in my life. It was scary and overwhelming. Sometimes we think dealing with feeling overwhelmed, burned out, depressed, anxious, or a messy relationship is easier than talking about it.

Taking the step to seek out professional help individually, as a couple, or as a family, can provide restoration and healing that you have been trying to find. Finding a therapist you can trust and walk alongside you can provide hope, support and resources that are hard to find when dealing with life alone.

How I can help.

I am a therapist, but more importantly I am human; a human that deals with the ups and downs of life that can be overwhelming.

I believe that marriages and relationships can be restored even if only one partner is willing to make the effort to start. Life and relationships can get messy. Things can go off track and feel impossible to turn things around. Most couples experience receptive and cyclical disconnects that overtime run you into the ground if it continues. With therapy, there is hope for you and tools that help you along the way, no matter the mess.

My story.

I have a passion for working with individuals, couples (married/non-married), and families of all kinds.

I believe that finding a therapist that “fits” for you can make a world of a difference in navigating the storms of life and having someone to be beside you along the way. I am passionate about the people I work with, their relationships, and who they uniquely are as people. Being someone to listen to the hard things has been a privilege, especially to people who have nobody who has. During difficult times in my life, having someone provide hope, encouragement, and a listening ear was helped me overcome trauma and difficult seasons. I would love to be that person to do the same for you, using my education, life experience, and relatability.

Life outside the office.

I am also a full time mom, in which I enjoy spending my time outside of the office with my baby boy. I enjoy to cook and bake, spend time with friends and family, as well as try to stay active.

Thank Them for Leaving

written by Acksanna Witherspoon on 29/05/19

We hear the stories of how someone in an abusive/toxic relationship will eventually rise up and leave once and for all. It’s so empowering. Yet also so false. Too many people feel “weak” because they didn’t leave their toxic relationship(s). Instead they stayed… and stayed… and stayed a little longer. And eventually, they tossed you […]

Seeking a therapist

written by Acksanna Witherspoon on 03/05/19

Seeing a therapist can feel intimidating. You probably have this picture in your head of what the setting would be like. Sitting in a contained room with bright lights. Or laying on a chase lounge looking at the ceiling in a room full of books. Therapy is welcoming, well it should be. It’s where you […]
