Have you ever had a physical injury that seemed to plague you long after the site had healed?

If your answer was “yes” just know that this is not as unusual as you might think. The body often retains the emotional imprint of physical trauma.

These imprints especially of intense feeling that may have occurred at the time of injury- anger, resentment, fear – leave residues in the body in areas called “energy cysts”.

Although you can adapt to energy cysts, over time your body needs extra energy to continue performing its day to day functions. Then as years pass and the body becomes more stressed, it can lose its ability to adapt. That’s when symptoms and dysfunctions begin to appear and become difficult to suppress or ignore.

There is a gentle and natural way to facilitate your body to release those emotional impacts and accelerate a full recovery: SomatoEmotional Release

What is SomatoEmotional Release (SER)?

  • It is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of Craniosacral therapy
  • To help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma
  • It’s often a deeply held tissue memory of a long forgotten experience, incident or accident that has been restricting us in some way ever since. The Insight comes from the Inside to the outside/from non-conscious to conscious

What is the goal of SER?

  • The goal is the Journey to self-awareness /self-realization.
  • Harmonizing all aspects of ourselves.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in seeing with new eyes” Marcel Proust.

  • Awareness is the key to bringing a person toward wholeness and the integration of self.
  • Insight brings integration and unity.

Nothing you experience is ever lost. Everything you experience is stored in the “personal unconscious”. Some of this information in the personal unconscious can be brought into the conscious mind with ease. However, some memories, those which are associated with fear, guilt, anger etc..are not as easily retrievable. SER is very helpful in bringing these “complexes” into the light of consciousness and freeing a person from their effects upon his or her life.

What Causes an Energy Cyst?

Any type of direct trauma (physical or emotional), toxicity, surgery, emotional conflict, infections, medications, radiation

What can I expect during an SER appointment?

The appointment will be very similar to a craniosacral appointment in that the therapist still uses a light touch approach and monitors the craniosacral rhythm to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. Delicate manual techniques are used to release these problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord. If an emotional release is necessary for the body to fully discharge a trauma, it will arise naturally often with images, memories and emotions that come to the persons mind.

The therapist will facilitate this process by working with tissue release and simultaneously engaging in an imaging and dialoguing technique that can guide the client through the encounter which often includes dealing with long-held emotions. The good news is that the client does not need to analyze the problem to release it. The role of the therapist is to remain neutral, meaning being present with the client in the moment without any thought or desire that the client be different from the way they are right now. In other words the goal is not to solve but rather “be” with the client and allow the process to unfold.

Our Deeper Selves

“It is our so called weaknesses and vulnerabilities that link us with our deeper selves and with each other and not our so called strengths which merely makes us independent”.   Carl Jung
