Have you ever been abused or experienced a traumatic event? Are you struggling with symptoms of PTSD? There are many ways we experience trauma. Whether you are a veteran in the military, a first responder (fire, paramedic, police), a sexual assault survivor, a childhood abuse survivor, or a civilian who experienced something traumatic, I invite you to reach out to me and start your healing journey.

Trauma Recovery CPT

What is CPT?

CPT is a behavioural treatment for PTSD, symptoms of trauma, and related conditions. This type of behavioural treatment is a short-term trauma treatment, designed to help individuals examine their trauma and the role that it is still playing in their life.

Why would CPT be helpful?

CPT helps reduce symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, and increase your daily satisfaction of living. Trauma symptoms affect all areas of our lives and it’s common for people to experience symptoms for many, many years after the trauma.

What symptoms can be addressed with CPT?

CPT is effective in treating PTSD across various populations and all different types of traumas including:

  • War/combat
  • Sexual
  • Childhood
  • Domestic abuse
  • Multiple complex traumas

It is also successful in treating:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Substance abuse
  • Personality disorders
  • Traumatic brain injury

What does an appointment look like?

CPT sessions start with a 20 question and 9 question assessment in order to determine if you meet the criteria for treatment. After it is determined that you meet the criteria for CPT, then we start to identify how the trauma currently impacts your life in the following ways: safety, trauma, power/control, esteem, and intimacy. We examine how you view yourself, others and the world within those areas and examine what thoughts are keeping you stuck in your trauma cycle. Through session we work together to help challenge and correct your stuck points and build your skills and tools to be able to correct those thoughts on your own outside of session.
