Safe Harbour Therapy Centre acknowledges with gratitude that our offices are located on Treaty 1 Territory, the ancestral land of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. We also acknowledge that our drinking water in Winnipeg is sourced from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.

We hold sacred the native lands that we live on, the nations of people who have lived here for time immemorial, and the ways in which they have enriched us. We honour the wonderful heritage, stories and accomplishments of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples across this land. We encourage and support infusing indigenous wisdom and ways of knowing, doing, and healing into our lives.

We recognize the history of colonization in our country, and the roles of our ancestors as well as ourselves in that process. We grieve the attempted decimation of these cultures, the genocide of indigenous peoples, and the immeasurable effects of colonization on all people of Canada.

Safe Harbour is committed to understanding the truth and supporting the work of reconciliation. We recognize the 94 calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. We recognize the harm caused to Indigenous peoples through the intergenerational trauma of colonization, and strive to provide care that is trauma-informed, accountable, affirming and restorative.
